" Making Results-based or Performance Management Real – Some Persistent Questions "

We have been discussing the last PPX seminar in our branch and were talking about how the same issues continually come up with regard to making results-based or performance management real. These types of questions seem to also come up regularly within our department from a variety of different groups.

These issues include:

  • clear direction (how to cope with all of the different results
  • based requirements)
  • buy in for RBM (all levels)
  • senior management support
  • cost (both in dollars and time)
  • how to get people to start to manage this way (culture change)
  • having and collecting good data
  • accountability for results
  • others

While no one has simple answers to these questions, they are fundamental in truly incorporating a results-based approach within an organization. I believe more discussion has to happen within this community on these hard issues. PPX may provide a forum for this type of discussion that could inform these issues and provide clarity.
